my niece said she wanted a painting for her birthday, and I was flattered beyond belief. Nine year-olds are brutally honest. So, I feel like I have gained the approval of a very tough critic.

how can any little girl feel perfect with a toy box full of this? Although, I never played with Barbies, and I still have an eating disorder anyway. They are pretty sick though.

Dave took me to see Ed Templeton's new exhibit. Wow- this is an impressive show! We were very inspired and will definitely be back next week to check it out more extensively.

flash floods. they hit suddenly, hard and then pass right through. leaving a little puddle.

I'm reading about Gauguin and Synthetism, a style that he used by focusing on the synthesis that happens in your mind when you don't paint from real life. The synthesis is the memory, and its more colorful and emotional. Not reality, so he could be free to express any kind of shapes and colors based on the emotion of those memories. Free.

Knowing more about this makes me feel better in my own pursuits as an artist. It helps me feel less scared and ignorant. I'm very thankful.
