According to Pulitzer prize-winning reviewer, Jonathan Gold, in a recent review in the LA Weekly Magazine:

One of the most disturbing images to appear on the Internet
this year may have been Dave Naz's snapshot of his girlfriend
…still groggy from anesthesia, with her freshly extracted
wisdom teeth arranged into a loose mound on her lolling,
half-extended tongue.
(from "The Big Uneasy", LA Weekly, May 9, 2007)

He continues, "Naz's gift is to make something like a mouthful of broken teeth look and feel like love."

Born in Los Angeles in 1969, Dave Naz grew up at the intersection of Beverly Hills glamour and Hollywood grime. Chas Ray Krider describes Dave Naz as "a true southern California artist." He continues:

When one looks beyond the surface, the [sexy imagery] is
seen as much more: a cultural artifact giving clues to the
sexual identities and persona of our time.

While Naz's work can range from the fresh to the explicit, to call Dave "an erotic photographer" alone would be misleading. According to journalist, Eric Kroll, Naz is "a pervert like Charles Bukowski, Henry Miller, and Hans Belmer were perverts."

In 1987, his teenage years not yet behind him, Naz left high school and Southern California to make music, packing clubs from the Ratskeller to the Marquee. In 1995, with no formal training, Naz picked up a camera and started photographing people.

Since 1998, Naz's photographs have appeared in more than thirty shows in galleries worldwide. His work has been featured in Black + White, FHM, GQ, Leg World, Maxim, Nerve, Salon, Stern.de, and other prominent venues, and has been included in two recent collections: The New Erotic Photography (Taschen, 2007) and Self-Exposure: The Male Nude Self-Portrait (Universe, 2005). Dave Naz is already the author of five well-received books with Goliath Press: Lust Circus (2002), Panties (2003), Legs (2004), Fresh: Girls of Seduction (2006) and L.A. Bondage (2007). Though self-taught, his work is praised by cultural artists as diverse as Lydia Lunch, Richard Kern, Gregory Dark, and Nina Hartley.

Dave Naz lives in the Hollywood Hills, high above Southern California.
