If you're interested in getting naked and being in a Dwarves Video Thurs, March 9th, Send an email with a few photos to dwarves@thedwarves.com. I'll be there shooting stills for the video.
Sad news, Zoo York Skater Harold Hunter from the Larry Clark film Kids died on Thurs from a cocaine overdose. You can donate money for the funeral through his site.
I saw the Jonas Akerlund film Spun tonight. I dug it. Totaly F'd up drug movie. The acting is great. It's funny, but horrifing at the same time. You may know Akerlund's work from the Prodigy - Smack my Bitch Up Video. check it out. It's pretty amazing.
I saw the new Larry Clark film Wassup Rockers last week and it's still on my mind. This movie will have more mainstream appeal than his other films. His last film Ken Park (a masterpiece) didn't even make it to the U.S., but was seen in parts of Europe and you can find it on DVD (non-U.S.region). Some of the dialogue in Wassup Rockers would only work with the cast he choose. Wassup Rockers is about Latino kids from South Central that go to Beverly Hills to skate and end up hooking up with some white girls, get in all kinds of trouble. Then, they try and get back to South Central where it's safe.
The April 2006 issue of Barely Legal came out and features a layout I shot of Krissy & Ashley Gracie. This shot is of Ashley, who's in my upcoming book "Fresh - Girls of Seduction".
Eon McKai just signed an exclusive deal with Vivid and will start a new label called Vivid-Alt. Octavio & I will will each be directing films for the label. I've been working on some scene ideas and I'm really excited about this project and happy to be a part of it. Read more about it on FLESHBOT & AVN.
I met Tony Alva at his skate shop on 1086 S.Farfax Ave. in L.A. I just droped in and there he was. I've been a fan since the 6th grade, so I bought a deck and had him sign it. If you haven't seen the Documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, don't wait another day. It's amazing.
The Pleasure's All Mine - Rachel Kramer Bussel - The Village Voice
Rachel Kramer Bussel wrote a great piece in The Village Voice on Joan Kelly's new book The Pleasure's All Mine: Memoir of a Professional Submissive. Joan's a good friend and a true submissive. She tells all in her book and I recommend picking it up. Joan is doing a book signing at Hustler Hollywood this Thurs at 8:00 and I'll be there with her. Come on down. It should be a fun time. When I first started shooting Joan she told me she was more comfortable being naked than clothed. Maybe that's why we get along so well. Some of those photos can be seen in my first book Lust Circus. Also be sure to check out Rachel Kramer Bussel's Blog. Hopefully, I'll get to shoot her some day too.
When you look at the work of Richard Prince, you may say to yourself, "Why didn't I think of that?" I went to his exibition "Check Paintings" at Gagosian Gallery over the summer and really enjoyed the work. He did these huge paintings and pasted his Sponge Bob Square Pants checks on them along with a joke- well, there was a little more to it. He also is known for taking photos of photographs and I have a book where he has just taken photos of books. You may know is work from the last Sonic Youth album Sonic Nurse. Larry Clark interviews him in the book "4x4"- I believe it's out of print. There's also a good interview with him in Index Magazine. The issue with Crispen Glover on the cover.
Last Thurs the Traveling Erotic Art Show show hit Seattle. This photo Courtesy of Steve Diet Goedde who made it out there for the opening. It looks like everyone enjoyed the show. Especially the red haired gal.
I shot Haley Paige on Monday. This was the fourth time we've worked together and she's a great girl. I took this shot of her when she arrived with no make up.
I gave in over the Summer and decided to join My Space. Since I don't have a proper email list, add me if you'd like to be up date on events & book releases. Or you could just read this blog.
I recently watched The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snider: Punk Rock & New Wave. I use to watch this show late night when I was in grade school. This 2 disc DVD has live performances by: The Jam, The Ramones, Elvis Costello & The Attractions and interviews with Patti Smith, John Lydon, Joan Jett, Paul Weller, Iggy Pop, The Ramones and the Plasmatics. This is a great DVD.
The Canadian TV show "Sex TV" came by and did a Feature on my Photography. Kimberly Kane and Mary Jane were nice enough to come by and be interviewed and then filmed while I shot them together. It was a fun day.
I picked up Paul Jasmin's book Lost Angeles. The cover photo isn't the best representation of the book. His photos and lighting remind me of Jack Pierson, but there are a lot more girls in Paul Jasmin's books. His first book Hollywood Cowboy is a classic and is currently out of print. Both Paul Jasmin & Jack Pierson capture expressions in people I only wish I could come close to. Beautiful work.
