Gil Scott-Heron - Black President

One of the first people I thought of while Obama became the next President elect was Gil Scott-Heron, an amazing Poet & Musician. I looked him up last night to see if he had anything new out and found out he's been in and out of jail. In 2001 for possession of cocaine and then again in 2006 for violating a plea deal by leaving a drug rehab center. He admitted he was HIV+ and claimed the treatment center stopped giving him his medication. He was paroled in 2007. It's sad they clog up the prisons with non-violent drug offenders. I was lucky enough to meet him and see him perform a couple times in the 90's.
